Dental Crowns: Restoring Your Smile’s Strength and Beauty

What Are Dental Crowns?

A dental crown is more than just a dental restoration—it’s a custom-crafted solution that transforms and protects a damaged tooth.

Think of a crown as a protective helmet for your tooth, designed to restore both its function and appearance.

Crafted from durable materials like porcelain, ceramic, or metal alloys, a crown completely caps the visible portion of a tooth, providing comprehensive protection and aesthetic enhancement.

Do You Need a Dental Crown?

Dental crowns become necessary in various situations that compromise a tooth’s integrity:

Significant Tooth Decay: When a cavity is too large for a standard filling, a crown provides a complete solution that preserves the remaining structure.

After Root Canal Treatment: Following a root canal, teeth become more brittle. A crown reinforces the tooth, preventing future fractures and restoring full functionality.

Fractured or Severely Worn Teeth: Teeth damaged by trauma, grinding, or extensive wear can be rebuilt with a precisely designed crown.

Cosmetic Improvements: Misshapen, discolored, or poorly aligned teeth can be transformed with custom-crafted crowns that blend seamlessly.

Why Choose Our Practice for Dental Crowns?

Our approach goes beyond technical expertise.

We combine:

  • Advanced dental technology
  • Personalized treatment planning
  • Compassionate, patient-centered care
  • Commitment to your long-term dental health

Types of Dental Crowns: Tailored to Your Needs
  • Porcelain Crowns: The gold standard for natural appearance, perfect for front teeth that require aesthetic excellence.
  • Ceramic Crowns: Incredibly durable and stain-resistant, offering both strength and beauty.
  • Metal Alloy Crowns: Exceptional strength for back teeth that endure significant biting pressure.
  • Porcelain-Fused-to-Metal Crowns: A hybrid approach combining the strength of metal with the natural appearance of porcelain.
Caring for Your Dental Crown

Maintaining your crown is similar to caring for natural teeth:

  • Brush twice daily
  • Floss regularly
  • Avoid excessive force or hard foods
  • Schedule regular dental check-ups

With proper care, your dental crown can last 10-15 years or even longer, providing a lasting solution to dental challenges.

The Crown Placement Process:

Precision and Personalization

Our crown placement process is a carefully orchestrated procedure that ensures optimal results:

Comprehensive Examination: We begin with a thorough assessment of your tooth’s condition, using advanced diagnostic imaging to plan the most effective treatment.

Tooth Preparation: The existing tooth is carefully reshaped to create the perfect foundation for your new crown. This involves removing damaged areas and creating a stable base.

Precise Impressions: Using state-of-the-art digital scanning technology, we capture exact measurements of your tooth, ensuring a crown that fits with microscopic precision.

Custom Fabrication: Your crown is meticulously crafted in a specialized dental laboratory, matching the color, translucency, and shape of your surrounding teeth.

Precise Placement: The crown is permanently bonded by the dentist Crawfordsville, Greencastle, Terre Haute, and Bloomington patients rely on, creating a seamless, strong restoration that looks and feels completely natural.
